ICC ASSIGNMENTS

Ni hao MUN class,

For the ICC assignment, instead of doing a Country Profile assignment to get the ball rolling, we are going to do Personal Profiles. Your task is to research the following people and create a biography about them. Look for a rubric below. Your assignments are...

Defendants
Darren: Muammar al-Qaddafi
Murielle: Said al-Islam Qaddafi
Christine: Khamis al-Qaddafi

Witnesses
Junior: Ibrahim O Dabbashi
Junior: Defected Air Force Commander *
Sarah: Head of the International Red Cross in Libya
Sarah: A woman who has been improsoned by Qadaffi *
Sabina: Mustafa Abdul Jalil
Sabina: A citizen who has been harmed (you decde how) directly by Qadaffi's forces *

Legal Team
Eve - Deputy Prosecutor: Fatou Bensouda
Peggy - Head of the Jurisdiction, Complementarity, and Cooperation Division
Catherine: Head of Investigations: Michael De Smedt

Here is what you need to complete your Personal Profile.

Background (Paragraph One)
1.) Place of birth
2.) Year of birth and approximate age as of today
3.) If they have any important family ties, please list them.
4.) Education (If none, put none. Otherwise list their Primary, Secondary, Bachelor's, Master's, Doctorate Degrees, where and when they graduated, plus any Technical Institutions - like military school.)
5.) Work Experience

Role in The ICC Tribune
6.) Why are you hear at The Hague? This requires you to research how an ICC Tribune works.

* For the witnesses, your job is to pick someone who fits my vague outline. It can be anyone who fits that criteria who has been affected by this incident. Eventually, you will be called to the stand (meaning you will have to speak in court) because of your experiences. So, you have some creativity in terms of creating your character. Find someone and "become" that person for the trial.

NOTE: Information about Libya is limited since the media is tightly controlled. However, you are still expected to do proper research and cite your sources. Furthermore, you are also expected to turn this assignment in MLA Style. Both GCP 9 and 10 have just completed assignments that required them to write a paper in MLA Style. Therefore, there are no excuses for turning in assignments that are not in MLA Style.

Jia you!

Mr. Gibson
